Born May 31, 1950 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Florence (Pierrepont) Gifford.Earlier in her life she was a switchboard operator at Wyckoff Heights Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and Brunswick Hospital in Amityville, New York.
